Germanic fibulae 7th cent. by somk Germanic fibulae 7th cent. by somk
My favs :) You can wear just one on the shoulder or to hold your scarf. Or you can use a pair and hang chains in between. I made some in bronze and in sterling silver with various enamels and stones.
Those a tough brooches and very useful when you have heavy fabrics.
The original one was found near the rhine and is supposed to have been made by a jeweler from the 7th century. The original was even signed by the guy :) Wigerig was his name.

Those are neat, but I can't understand how exactly they can hold a scarf, or anything?

those are incredible. In fact I browsed through your gallery and every piece of jewerly I've seen in it is breathtaking, I really loved your deep necklace. But those fibulae are amazing me because I've just seen them all on your website without knowing what was their purpose. But your description just answered my questions! Very lovely and stylish works :)
