A very special commissioned piece with a diamond provided by the customer. His idea was a star/sun central gemstone with smaller ones all around, like tiny comets...
Hollymolly, I've never set such a big baby, it was VERY intimidating. Hey, I'm not Boucheron or Cartier ...
In the end, all went well and I think the ring is ok.
I wanted something as usual ancient looking, fragile but still sturdy, not too catchy (this is why I lowered the central diamond so it doesn't catch everything around)
The 6 brilliant cut accents are quite old, they all came from a sapphire and diamond ring made in 1920/1930. The sapphire was scratched but the diamonds were perfect.
Yeah ... I agree with setting the central diamond low. This looks great, because it's not pretentious. When a gorgeous setting. I just love period jewelry.
i don't know much about making rings, but i can look at them! this is absolutely amazing! i usually don't like big stones, either, but the little ones around it help balance it out a lot ^^ this is so awesome!!! superb job ;D

Beautiful work. The setting is a perfect match for the stones.
