Viking ring - Seals (Daily Deviation) by somk Viking ring - Seals (Daily Deviation) by somk
Based on wood carvings apparently depicting protective spirits for fishermen. Carved all way round, sterling silver... on ice :)

Viking ring - Seals by *somk is unquestionably one of the most astounding works of art I have ever seen. It is an intricately detailed ring made of sterling silver on a backdrop of ice, component to a literal treasure trove of jewelry. I'm rarely so compelled to point this out, but please take a moment to view this gallery of superior craftsmanship. ( Featured by frail )

Incredible quality and exquisite carving skills....seems to capture the essence of Viking patterns (in the way that it looks kinda dusty)....

I know a man who would love that for its deeply-rooted Celtic feel. :) This is amazing work, and I really, really admire that it was personally carved. That's beyond amazing and definitely a talent. Beautiful work.

Either you go to a local jeweler and try or grab a ring that suits you and manage to measure the diameter. This way, I can translate the diameter (in mm) into ring size and voila :)

wow man..that's cool. it sort of reminds me of the odhroerir, from this view, except it's only got two seals, rather than three horns. also, the shape (once again from this view) is similar to the valknut..pretty cool.

it is so rare to see craftsmen (persons) these days let alone in a digital forum. Your trade is one that is spinning into a crazy dichotomy of commecialism and art... much like all of the art trades have seen. This is a lovely piece of work particulary due to the medium but also in pure skill... the form is indeed pleasing and when I model it on a finger in my mind it seems to compliment the natural curves of the human finger well. ring design is a many-faceted thing and deciding on the form of the ring, the purpose of the ring and its integration into the wearer's hand is most important. You seem to have approached this reasonably and succeeded. I do think that the image itself could have been burned down a touch (on the icicle) in order to make the ring *pop* more and have better tonal seperation from the background. Altogether, masterfully done. Certainly worth a Dd. Cheers.

I wouldn't mind to have that ring on one of my fingers. I don't know much about jewelry, but I really like the design. The relief in this ring is very clear. I also like the way the ring has been photographed.

You have put too much work into this sculpture to get just these "oooh pretty" comments. :) They are nice though (the comments).

Anyways on to the ring. This is a lovely job, the lines are very clean.

The design on the sides by the hanging down upside down heart (I'm not sure what else to call it) remind me of masks. I also like the use of ice here, it compliments the ring. But, is the ice real or fake? I'm assuming it's real though since the ring wraps around it.

Anywhoo good job. :claps: I could never do something like this with out screwing up majorly.
